Excellent for the price

I bought this item to check the warping of my engine cylinder heads. Of course, I was able to quickly and easily identify the deformed heads. After my return from the machine shop, I was able to check the correctness of the heads with this ruler. This gives me confidence that the ruler itself is straight. The plastic sleeve covering the machined edge is comfortable to the touch and lubricates the edge to prevent corrosion. For the money this is a great product.

Pros
  • Industrial and scientific
Cons
  • Slightly torn

I checked many straight edges and this one was my favorite as I was looking for a "straight edge" and not a ruler. This product is very large in height and thickness. The properties are more than sufficient for use in the garage. I liked the packaging. I'm not sure I understand the complaints about the packaging as it would be difficult to damage this ruler other than on purpose. Like a hanging hole, it makes storage easier. Received early. Everything was better than "as advertised". The price…

Pros
  • Layout Tools
Cons
  • String shorter than others

One of the few things you will regret buying!

So far I've only used this to test the straightness of a few aluminum cylinder heads. The first head I checked was deformed out of spec and the owner had installed it more than once and had sealing issues. The second set of heads came out perfectly straight and allowed me to start replacing the head gaskets with full confidence that all my time and money would not be wasted. After assembly, there were no problems with the machine. I don't really have a chance to fully test the accuracy of this…
