This is a very good item for ankle support or compression, but I wouldn't call it an orthotic. For those who have chronically sprained their ankles, after reading a few reviews here I thought this would be a convenient fixation solution. But I would never consider wearing it as a sports ankle brace. I love this product but I have had an Achilles tendon strain for about two months and just don't have enough support. I feel great for the first 30 minutes and then I get really sick. I have used the Swede-o 8 brand and it is better at this stage. However, I see it as useful in a few months when I can walk further, need less support but still need some compression for stability.
