Highly recommended excellent tool

I have used this tool many times over the past six months. I found it was the first key I reached for. I have many other adjustable wrenches of all sizes and the Channelock 8SWCB is by far the best. The mechanism is surprisingly smooth and tight with virtually no play. The slim jaw design allows this wrench to be used on small nuts and hard-to-reach places. The design accommodates large fasteners while still being compact and lightweight. The material it is made of is corrosion resistant and…

Great custom bike or pipe wrench, large capacity

View the pictures of this wrench mounted to the inner steering column nut of a bike keeping your hands free. Look at the volume of the jaw in another photo - almost the same volume as an old JH Williams 15" adjustable wrench. Pretty remarkable. When you need this wrench, only push rod wrenches or bike cone wrenches will do, and none of them have the same quick adjustment. It's a well-made, durable tool with a comfortable grip that's perfect for bike or plumbing jobs. This is a quality tool for…

good wrench for hand tools

The jaws are thinner but not by much, they are 3/16", I would prefer if they were 1/8". I bought these to use when installing bike wheels as one of the nuts is flimsy and this tool fits perfectly. You can do the same thing as this tool by sharpening a standard wrench with a bench grinder. I won't be using this tool often and only for light work, so it should work just fine. If you really need to tighten something, an adjustable wrench won't work anyway. I would buy this again. The blue handle…

Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Terrible design! best adjustable wrench

I have worked with hand tools in industrial settings for at least 25 years so a good 8" sickle wrench has always been a must. Lately I've had to use the 10" because an odd ball fitting is too big for the 8". Well the 10" is heavy and bulky and doesn't fit well in my pocket so I looked for an 8" that opens. wider. I found this key and since it was "Channellock" I thought it would be great. I blame myself for not noticing that this wrench is made for those hard-to-reach places, the surface of the

Manufacturing tolerances too tight, clamp slightly loose

I received a new key that works, but with three problems: Problem 1: The handle looks a bit used. There were a few scratches on the grip, both on the red plastic and the blue rubber, and the rubber on the neck was discolored as if worn, but there were no obvious signs of wear. I don't really care about this issue, but you might if you give it as a gift. Problem 2: The movable jaw was a bit loose. Tolerances are not as tight as they should be. Where the cam tips meet there is a 0 to 1/32 inch…

Great tool - hand tool

First the differences between Channel Lock's flagship 440 spike and eyelet pliers. They are made in Spain, not in the USA. The metal is a lot shinier than the tongs I've bought in the last two years. I haven't had a chance to abuse them so I can't comment on the quality of the metal. I have no reason to doubt that they will outlive me unless I do something really stupid. The blue rubber material is completely different from the insulating sleeves on the tongue, groove and pliers. he is fatter…
