Pretty good but not great

They work well on the Lexus GX470 but not great. First, I didn't have ball studs which would be a lot easier to install. I had to cut the originals from the old ones. But the main reason I am summing up one star is because they are too strong. If the hood is halfway up, you can use excessive force to lift it out of your hands. They do their job and keep the hood.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • There are flaws

Works better than expected

The hood on the head is not fun. They were so easy to replace and they were so durable that I really regret not replacing them a long time ago. Our 2004 Toyota 4 Runner requires two of these shock absorbers for the hood and during the replacement it was surprising to see that only one shock was needed to support the hood. With two in place, I no longer have to worry about the hood coming down on me. If you're remotely thinking of replacing your hood struts, do it, it's such a cheap thing and so

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Minor issues

Installation turned out to be easier than expected on my Lexus GX470

If you remove the clips on the old one, you can simply "pull out" the old post. Then this new one just "pops out". The YouTube installation video suggests you need a metrics key to remove the old one. My experience was easy because my old racks had clips on each end that you could just snap off so they could be pulled out. The new frames are very strong and work well despite being made in China. Installing both racks took about 10 minutes. Make sure you put the bar underneath and the black…

Pros
  • . Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Works great on Lexus GX470 hood

I just installed it on my wife's Lexus GX470. Here's the procedure. Open the hood (I used a retractable snow brush). Using a 12mm box wrench, remove the top bolt from ONE side of the hood. If you remove the top section first, it will be easier to fold back the post to access the bottom pin. Remove the bottom bolt with the strut attached. Install the studs in the top and bottom holes (note: stock posts have a built-in metal washer that cannot be removed). When installing these replacement bolts,

Pros
  • Good product for the price

  • weak
