no instructions? - Kitchen and dining room

It arrived on time and in good condition but only the sharpener was in the box. There were no instructions or warranty information - no papers. This was the second order I've ordered in the last month, so I expected the same with the second order (my dad took the first). This latest version also looks different than the first, but the difference is cosmetic and not functional like a newer version or anything.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Only available in white

Transforms the scalpel into a sharp blade. it can be shaved

If you want a really sharp knife with a straight blade, this is for you. Don't buy serrated knives. On a straight edge knife, if you follow the instructions, this sharpener will leave you with a blade sharp enough and precise enough to shave with. Whether you're sharpening your everyday paring knife or your favorite sushi knife, this is what you need. That's proof of idiocy. and with professional knife sharpening for $18 each, it doesn't take long to recoup the purchase price.

  • Easy to install

always works great. I use 2nd and 3rd slots for .

My brother had this model for many years, got tired of lugging all my knives there, bought his own, always works great. I use the 2nd and 3rd slot to keep my knives very sharp, only once have I had to use the first slot to fix an old knife my dad gave me. Remove any nicks, mend the corner, then use the other 2 slots to complete the process. Not only the knives but also the like new sharpened blade in my 20 year old food processor (was almost ready to work on a new food processor) I cannot…

Works perfectly. the best in kitchen and dining

Continued to pay $15 for each knife sharpener and finally found a really great product. In most cases, you only need the second and third step. The first step is for really dull, dull knives that need a deep sharpening. Bought this for Thanksgiving to sharpen my turkey carving knife. Worked great and ended up sharpening all of our knives. I used it over Christmas to sharpen the prime rib grill and it only took a couple of pulls on the third step and it worked well. The machine lasts for many…

Excellent work

I bought my chef's 120th knife in March 2016. We have about 15 knives, including steak knives, which we use regularly and sharpen every 4-6 months. The results are amazing, I couldn't be happier! In the beginning, it took several attempts to master the right technique. I would say there are 3 main methods. First, in most cases, the impeller itself would only be used once. Stone #2 and a buffing wheel were used for subsequent sharpening. Second, it requires a light pull, not a high-pressure…

Immediate effect and savings of time and money

This sharpener has changed my kitchen a lot. I am anything but a knife expert and only own "Bed, Bath & Beyond" knives (Calphalon, Sabatier, Henckels). I have tried various passive sharpeners in the past and have always been disappointed. I've never been good with stone either. This sharpener took effect immediately after following the instructions and tips that came with it. I've put all my carving, utility and chef's knives through this sharpener in just a few minutes and suddenly I'm tired…

Great - but don't expect miracles

Bought this to replace a similar one I've had for 25 years. This is a great device if you know what you're getting. Corporate marketing departments are not shy about promoting their products, and Chef's Choice is no exception. If you're stupid enough to think that this device will give you better results than a professional sharpener or half an hour's work with a whetstone, then shame on you. However, if you're looking for something that will give you a huge advantage in less than a minute…

Pros

I believe in this sharpener!

I'm old, I'm a homemaker and I love this knife sharpener. Chef's Choice 120 is the third generation of knife sharpeners. I bought it on the recommendation of Cook's Illustrated/ATK. My previous sharpener was an inexpensive Accusharp, which I also bought on the recommendation of CI/ATK. HEED the advice of many previous reviewers: read the instructions! I have done this and am very slowly moving towards sharpening all my knives that need sharpening. As a result, they're not exactly at Bob…

Surprisingly good sharpener, good value for money

I can't believe how well this sharpener works! I've been old school my whole life and always used a Spyderco sharpening system or whetstone, so I never thought of an electric sharpener. However, with 20 knives and constant sharpening, I was ready for a bit of technology and mechanization. This sharpener is very easy to use once you understand how it works and makes an amazingly sharp edge. After sharpening all my knives I now use it to mend a knife blade before using it. I would have to spend a
