You get what you pay for.

Of course the hub works - I've had it on my home network for a year now. Low-bandwidth browsing and streaming are great for this tiny box. But remember that if you overload the LAN channel - for example with FTP broadcasting or things like NetMeeting - you will see collisions. TONS of collisions. The small red LED always lights up. Paying $50 a month for a 300 kbps @home cable connection and seeing a drastic drop in transfer speeds when using a $30 hub (instead of a $60 switch) is dumb andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

This hub is a performance bottleneck.

After owning this hub for a few weeks I found that it really didn't work well. I encountered more bottlenecks than I ever expected. I called tech support for any kind of solution but had to wait over 2 hours. After getting a schedule, I eventually turned down the help. Not only does this product perform poorly, it is poorly maintained.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • No automatic controls

Very worthy for a home network.

I have 3 PCs and they are all connected through one of them with the same cable. Of course it doesn't support 100MB/s, but I don't have it anyway. And most likely you do too. For the price, ease of use and compatibility, you really can't go wrong. If you need an upgrade in the future, you have nothing to lose by spending so little on something like this, so go ahead. It really works.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Decent reliability justifies itself in terms of cost

Pretty cheap socket. For the price, that is. Gives good results for the price. I'm not trying too hard, but my hub is connected to a 10base-T LAN for my campus LAN, and I have three computers connected to it. Usually it handles multiple connections well, but it happens that a bad hub just can't handle it, and the collision indicator flashes insanely. However, performance is decent for my setup, but my setup is probably atypical. However, if it manages to deliver 1Mbps to a single computer veryโ€ฆ
