Excellent wireless bridge between 802.11b WiFi and Ethernet

I am very impressed with WET11. It's basically an Ethernet to wireless adapter that just works. Unlike bridges, including Linksys WAP11 v2.2, it looks like a regular wireless client to an existing wireless network. So you can use it with *any* 802.11b (WiFi) base station without having to configure that base station in a special mode to create a bridge. The Linksys WAP11, on the other hand, can only connect to other WAP11s. In my network, the WAP11 is an Apple Airport (Graphite) wireless…

Saved me some wiring

I have broadband internet in my upstairs bedroom. I wanted the kids to have access to the internet too. Your computers are below. Since I rent this house I didn't feel like digging through the walls to rewire. I have a Linksys WAP11 (access point) for the top floor and a WET11 for the bottom floor and now I can connect multiple computers (through a hub) to the WET11 and they can all access the internet. This saved me some money because I didn't have to buy a wireless PCI card for every…

Great little unit; Instructions were not well worded

I bought this product to get my Dell laser printer working wirelessly. It works perfectly. However, my lack of understanding of the instructions frustrated his work a bit. I'm a pretty savvy computer guy and I had to get crooked. Don't get me wrong and don't be afraid, it's hard to set up. it's not like this. On the back of the device there is a switch that can be switched to "X" or "II". When setting up a device, you should use "II" (I guess), but if you want the thing (printer, etc.) you're…

Simple, functional, comfortable

This bridge was just what I needed - it connected my Dell digital audio receiver to my wireless network so I could stream MP3 files through my stereo. Since this means streaming small files, everything works fine - I rarely experience dropouts. I haven't tried it with large amounts of traffic, but it seems to work fine with three computers sharing bandwidth on my 802.11b network. The beauty of Linksys products is that Linksys works hard to get them up and running. as simple as possible: I can…

Great article but a little tedious to set up, WEP encryption. difficult

I bought it to use with X-Box Live and I can only recommend it for X-Box or other wireless network solutions simply because you like it after setup just plug it into an ethernet port and you are connected. No drivers to download, no software to install on the connected computer. Now for the cons: 1. You set up the device on a Windows machine using the CD and enter all your network settings (according to your wireless router). Setup isn't as intuitive as it could/should be, and several times I…

Will not work with D-Link Wireless Router

I purchased this product based on reviews for my Sony PS2. It wasn't that easy to set up. I have a D-Link DI-713P wireless router and they are practically incompatible. The installation disk did not go past the initial screen. I contacted support after almost an hour of waiting. When I finally spoke to someone and said I was using a D-Link wireless router, they told me they weren't sure if they could help. You were right. They found that my bridge was defective. I was skeptical but bought…

Economical but quirky and dated

This unit is a great concept and was the perfect choice a few years ago. The concept is still great, but there are better options than this. The main problem is that the technology is outdated. Since it's pure 802.11b, it still runs at 11Mbps at best and can be half that in actual use. There are other variants of 802.11a and 802.11g that are many times faster. Other specific issues I've had with this model, and the reasons I'm calling it unusual, are: Broadcasting your SSID. If both devices…

  • Definitely a bad product
