Not compatible with Windows XP

I may be stupid but I didn't realize that this product is not compatible with Windows XP. I bought their router which came ready to use. However, the wireless network card pci wmp11 does not work. When I called Linksys, tech support told me straight away that I needed another card. Sorry, I already threw away the original packaging. It should be specifically stated on the packaging, DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS XP.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Repair

Great WiFi with Little Work

I have a Linksys WMP-11 PCI card and a Linksys Wireless 4-Port Cable/DSL Router. I had a 10/100 network card on my computer and it worked without a router for a long time, so I knew the router settings were correct before proceeding with the wireless card installation. When the day came, I turned off the wired network. network, installed the wireless software and put the card in my car. I turned on the backup power, and even though I had 100% signal strength and 100% signal quality, theโ€ฆ

Maximum range 50-75 feet

This product is an adaptation of the popular Linksys wireless network card for laptops. Laptops are subject to greater positioning flexibility than PCs. I took this product to the max. In a large medium tower case, on the floor, in a closet, facing away from the AP, through several walls, closets, bookshelves, appliances, and about 100 feet from the AP, I received about 0-6% signal strength at best. When I put the computer in the living room, 15 meters away, no closet, still on the floorโ€ฆ

  • Handy item

Great card for the money!

I had an old computer and didn't want to invest a lot of money to add it to our home wireless network. I bought this card and installed it in minutes. My son is very happy with the performance of this card and it has been working great since day one. By the way, his room is on the second floor and the signal quality is excellent.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • So far so good

As with all Lynksys products: Light Duty

I have a lot of Lynksys devices and have had many more. Lynksys stuff breaks, dies and misbehaves on a regular basis. However, it is one of the most useful, minimally proprietary and easy-to-use consumer devices. I'm using my 3rd WMP-11 on my server in 4 months but Lynksys tech support is pretty good and they ask for replacement hardware.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

The antenna had to be disconnected - Part II

A year ago I wrote a review of this product and complained about the poor and reliable radio connection as the antenna was on the back of the board and therefore was shielded. Metal PC case. The connection works most of the time, but slowly. What annoyed me the most was that any slight change in the environment, such as a person nearby or a change in humidity, would cause the card to lose connection due to weak signal strength and poor call quality from the start . I was looking for an external

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Expensive

Great performance but the setup was weird.

I am very happy with the Linksys WMP11 PCI Wireless Network Adapter. It has a real real antenna that sticks out from the back of the PC and can be adjusted for optimal signal strength. The only problem I had was the Windows XP wireless network setup utility competing against the utility that came with the card. I suppose I could have let windows utility manage the card, but I ended up unchecking the box that allowed the card to be managed. This allowed me to use the Linksys utility to set it up

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Fragile

This works fine in Compaq Deskpro P500 Windows 98 SE if .

After trying several 54Mbps cards, none of which worked or worked perfectly, this was the only card the computer recognized that didn't freeze on boot and worked with the wifi for the first time router has been connected. to remove the Compaq Ethernet Wired LAN card which appeared to be taking over the TCP/IP connection before the WMP11 driver loaded. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the software from the CD that came with it, and then connected to the internet using my Linksys high-speedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • No color required
