I bought this collar many years ago and have had no problems. Recently, with new kittens, I tried again. A kitten is very active. Her collar caught somewhere and tightened twice without breaking. I was close and able to adjust it but after the 2nd time I got rid of the collar. I would never forgive myself if my cat were injured on the collar again.

I bought two of these for my two cats. At first I liked them, although adding markings is difficult, then I took a cat to the vet for a check-up. They failed to break the clasp. They managed to turn it upside down. I just tried to remove the second collar from another cat but I couldn't either. I had to cut it! Unsafe product if you want it to come off and if you ever want to take it off you will have to ruin it.

These are cute, safe little collars for my kitties. The light blue color looks beautiful against my red coat allowing it to be seen at dusk to dark. The collar is well made and the release clasp has enough strength to secure the kitten if caught but will not come loose accidentally. The adjustable part on it comes loose too easily. I put the collar on my kitty with the right amount of force and after about 30 minutes I could hear her moving like crazy. I checked him out and he had the collar in his mouth like a gag. The collar did not come off and got stuck. I untied it and there was blood all over the collar. Edit 9/24/18: Have relied on this collar for years; but the shutter recently changed from hard plastic, and the second one just broke! I need to find another collar. Very disappointed. Our cat checked this twice when we first got him (we found him under a juniper tree with a Loc8tor on his collar). Since then he has been fine. When I first bought this collar I didn't realize it looked different from the picture, now I see it. Purrfect. My cat has had it for a few weeks now and it hasn't gone away. The ones I bought at the pet store also had a safety clasp and my cat lost it on the third day of wearing it. This one hasn't failed yet. I like the bell on the collar not only to save the birds but also when I call my kitten home (and sometimes he's an idiot and doesn't come right away, at least when I hear his bell I know it's him goes well ).
