Doesn't provide enough padding

They are easy to put on and fit over the tines of a large collar. BUT, they don't seem to offer much or any protection on the ends. If I press my fingertips on the tips, they still get sharp. Get Gaity Pet's. They have more padding on top and feel thicker.

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • thin

Yes, they are definitely working on cushioning the impact, but. . .

I've tried them on pins but found they really take the edge off. I now know that a spiked collar is actually safer than a regular distributed weight collar and causes less damage, but as I said, I've found that the rubber tabs aren't really needed, at least for me, and I think I bought them because I wanted to be safe with my precious 5 month old Labrador.

Pros
  • Great for a small home

Good covers for a small collar with teeth

These are the perfect little covers for a collar with 2.25mm teeth. The dog I use the spiked collar on is actually quite easy to control and the pressure from the spikes is quite strong. These tips will prevent the collar from harming her. I think they also keep cold metal from bothering them on cold winter walks. I ordered two boxes and one box contained 20 tips (actually a box of 20 not 18) and the other box contained 3 tips (although the box said 20). A box of 3 came from Seacorals and they…

You are perfect! Much better than the picture, fits perfectly.

I almost fell and decided it was time to get up and start training my big and strong dog. Traditional choke collars are not always effective and cause more harm to both animals and humans (if the dog is big and strong). Having previously done obedience/training I knew that the "power steering" in the form of a notched collar was necessary and made life for my pet and I that much easier. Since my dog is a shorthaired and show dog, I needed these tips on how to put on the spikes since I don't…

fits a small collar and works well

I have used collars with previous dogs. Now I have 2 Miniature Schnauzers who are stubborn, like to tug at the leash and bark and will not respond to correction with a flat collar. So I bought 2 small collars (ordered separately) but found that one kept getting tangled and stuck in my dog's slightly longer coat and for my other dog the collar itself was too strict to fix. So I put them on and they solved both problems; On my long haired dog, the rubber tips help with putting the collar on and…

semi-functional in collars

I have them in several sizes because it's not clear which fits which barb size. The number of caps is suitable for medium sized dogs (30-80 lbs) where I have used them. I use Herm Sprenger orthopedic collars and have had skin irritations. I bought this brand for lack of other options. They help minimize skin irritation due to the metal pin. They have worked on 1 out of 3 dogs I have used them on. With the second dog, I had to switch to Kurogan due to a nickel allergy, and with the third dog…
