I bought these bits because I needed to drill a 1" diameter hole in 1/2" diameter 360 brass. Even with cutting fluid, the chisel was slow to do its job. at least 1/2 hour to go through a hole. The ends are blunt and don't hold their edge. I will say the sides of my holes are very nice and smooth but with so much turning and cutting it should be. I expect better, especially when using a bit that should be high speed steel that cuts through softer material like brass.
Attempting to drill holes in 3/8 gauge steel plate. I picked it up from a junkyard so I don't know exactly what steel it is, but I suspect it's some kind of hard ballistic material. I started with a 3/16 COBALT pilot bit and then switched to 11/32. The last hole was supposed to be 9/16 so I took some from the set above. All I did was melt a little. Funny, all other COBALT bits worked fine. Hm. Maybe not that funny. Actually quite annoying. Really disappointed. I have other Revain items thatβ¦
Not sure where to start. Most buyers seem lucky enough. At over $50 this is also a great deal on a range of large drill bits but far from the cheapest available here at Revain. So what was I expecting in that sense? Of course not professional quality. These beats do so much and more in one beat. However, being a "Cobalt" I expected that they would be able to drill three holes in a 3 inch galvanized pipe. Actually, that was the whole purpose of this purchase.
