When I first used it, I rubbed it in my hand to check the grind. I noticed metal shavings along with the pepper which startled me, but after the first few uses it stopped completely and works perfectly. Although the reservoir is small. Still better than a hand mill and I love mine so much! I would definitely buy this again!

Do not recommend this product. Each windmill uses 6 AAA batteries and they only last a couple of weeks making them a bit expensive to use. We actually bought rechargeable batteries just to use them. The pepper grinder has a weekly grind and it takes a long time to get a decent amount of pepper. We constantly had problems with the pepper mill - e.g. 1. the button doesn't work and you have to fiddle with it until it starts again. 2. If you're buying these grinders it's probably because you like using a lot of salt and pepper but don't want to hand grind them all the time. Choppers work GREAT with new batteries. However, I have to change the pepper batteries about every time I need to fill the pepper tank, which is very small, about once a month.
