It's best to wait for men

I already love this jacket! I waited about a year to restock this color and when Revain finally alerted me that it was back in stock it was a lot cheaper than most color lists. Living in Vegas and it's August right now I can't comment on the warmth and wind resistance at the moment as I won't be using this for another 3 months. Fit. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 250 pounds. Yes I have a belly, waist 40-42 inches depending on the pants. Size XL fits exactly as I expected! Again, it's now August, no…

Looks good, takes up quite a bit of space

Can't speak of waterproof or extreme cold yet, but in my experience a comfortable and good looking jacket, able to cross the line between Casual wear and sporty "outerwear". One annoyance is that the collar doesn't open all the way and often scratches my chin when I turn around. I've tried folding it into the collar so it sits flat like a lapel, but it doesn't stay completely flat and always rises over time. My main criticism is the size. In my opinion, that's quite a lot for those used to many

Stylish and efficient

If you're looking for a layered jacket with a cold-weather shell, this is it. I bought it for a trip to South Dakota in winter where the average temperature is 10-20 degrees as of December 2020. As a native of Louisiana, I don't think I would be very happy without this thing. Wear anywhere between 3-4 layers to stay warm. The fit is very good. I'm 5ft 7" and 160lbs and it fits slightly larger if you wear it with just a shirt underneath but is perfect for layering. Fits perfectly over all my…

Size difference between Ascender and Ascender II

I just bought the Ascender and Ascender II jackets in large-tall to compare the fit and feel between them. I'm 6ft 2in and about 220lbs, I'm in the middle between a regular size and a plus size. Due to my size, fit is everything. If the Ascender can be considered the original version of this jacket, then the Ascender II is the "slim fit" version. Here are the differences I noticed: - The top of the Ascender II is much thinner than the original Ascender. I would rate the Ascender II as being a…

Some Comparisons - Apparel

This jacket is beautiful. Soft and lightweight like fleece with all the benefits of a weatherproof shell. I've tried this along with several other jackets that cost a lot more. I liked this one more. See comparisons below. Northface Apex Bionic 2: I was expecting this option to really appeal to me, but I wasn't convinced. The sleeves were unusually long, and they had no elastic or Velcro at the wrists, so they just dangled. I also found my forearms to be oddly tight, making it difficult for me…

The dimension of vanity strikes again; Zipper Issues

Advertised as 'Regular Classic/Contemporary Fit'. Therefore, when choosing the size, I assumed that the usual classic/modern fit could lie somewhere between a classic fit and a modern fit. I'm of average/athletic build with short arms. Short of over-length sleeves (a casual clothing problem I live with), the medium size, which fits between a classic fit and a modern fit, had to fit me perfectly, with a little more room for layering. Aside from trying this jacket on, the cut is nothing short of…

Pros
  • Very Impressive
Cons
  • Durability

I have an old NorthFace Apex Bionic Soft skin that I love. But after years of camping in it and with a lighter color, I decided I wanted a second one in black because years of camping, dirt and grime around a campfire had made it dirty and unappealing. It still works great, but it's not suitable for wearing to work because it makes me look like a mudbag. So I wanted to pick up a second one to wear anywhere but the trail and leave the dirty one for the wild. Unfortunately my house was a pretty…
