Will not work with Nuvi 500 or 550

Installed unit on motorcycle. The Nuvi 500 and Nuvi 550 connected to this power source will cause the GPS to restart periodically. I don't think it's losing power because then the GPS would just give a message that it's run out of battery. Rather, it behaves as if it is trying to connect to the computer. I suspect the cable behaves like a data cable. Well, it goes in the trash and I buy a Garmin power cable or make my own.

  • Easy setup

Works well, doesn't get hot, lots of cables included.

I have this cable on my bike so the device only gets power when the bike is in motion. The photo only shows the end of the Nuvi power plug. It was long enough to get the job done, and installing the step-down transformer section (small square piece) was easy in a tight space. When running, be sure to avoid pinch points and leave enough excess length to allow the bike to rotate freely in either direction. I carefully monitored heat build-up, but there was no noticeable temperature change. After…

Works as it should

Works exactly as advertised. Note that the total length of the wire is 10 feet. I asked a question about its acronym and received multiple replies. The fact is that if you know how to solder, it can be shortened. I trimmed both ends down to about 24 inches for use on my bike. To ensure water tightness, you should use shrink tubing, possibly double-layered. You can also solder a short piece of thicker wire to the connector. Because the cable is very thin and crimp connectors don't work properly,

Worked for a week, then broke.

Was installed on a 2013 BMW r1200rt. I had a good time getting all the Tupperware off my bike to install this. Once installed, it worked like clockwork. My Garmin GPS booted up (and didn't go to 'CONNECT TO PC' like many other aftermarket chargers do) and was ready to use. Problems arose after 1 week. My GPS suddenly lost power. Did the miniUSB part break in half when I unplugged it? I didn't have this problem with my regular Garmin adapter plugged into an outlet, so I was surprised it broke so

Not compatible with traffic receiver models.

Although not visible in the photo, the power adapter is located approximately 15 inches from the 12V/24V power cord. The USB cable is longer, making it easier to install the device in a hidden location. The downside is that this is NOT compatible with Garmin traffic receiver models. It provides power, but the traffic receiver function will not work. Both versions of the Garmin traffic receiver models are marked LMT on the packaging. One version uses a separate traffic coverage cable, denoted by

May not work properly with Garmin units with traffic option

FYI. Please note that this will not work with the Nuvi 2597LMT. This may not work with Garmin Nuvi which has the traffic option even if you have disabled it. The device seems to recognize that the cable is not a Garmin cable and keeps reminding you. I called Garmin customer service regarding this and they confirmed that this cable does not work with the Nuvi 2597LMT. If you have a Garmin with no traffic it will probably work just fine.

  • Weight

Worked for 8 days: GPS, viewfinder & accessories

I thought this was the perfect product for my application. I installed a GPS on the dash of my setup and powered it from a switched PSU. It worked great for exactly 8 days. Went to work 4 days a week before the Christmas holidays. Every day I turned on my truck and the GPS worked as expected. I just started my truck for the first time since the holidays and nothing. The GPS does not stay on because it is not powered. waste of money. Instead of this product, it is better to buy a genuine Garmin…

Motorcycle GPS wiring harness

I bought this product, it works perfectly. Wanted to connect my Garmin directly to my Yamaha and it does the job as it should. However, I wanted to write this review to commend the customer service. My first cable would not turn on. I went to the website listed on the paper that came with the seat belts and found a phone number. I called and quickly connected to a representative without putting it on standby :-). We spoke for a few minutes to confirm my issue. And he said he would send me a new
