Installed unit on motorcycle. The Nuvi 500 and Nuvi 550 connected to this power source will cause the GPS to restart periodically. I don't think it's losing power because then the GPS would just give a message that it's run out of battery. Rather, it behaves as if it is trying to connect to the computer. Was installed on a 2013 BMW r1200rt. I had a good time getting all the Tupperware off my bike to install this. Once installed, it worked like clockwork. Although not visible in the photo, the power adapter is located approximately 15 inches from the 12V/24V power cord. FYI. Please note that this will not work with the Nuvi 2597LMT. This may not work with Garmin Nuvi which has the traffic option even if you have disabled it. The device seems to recognize that the cable is not a Garmin cable and keeps reminding you. I called Garmin customer service regarding this and they confirmed that this cable does not work with the Nuvi 2597LMT. If you have a Garmin with no traffic it will probably work just fine.
