As promised

Worked great to find TDC. I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't damage anything, but it turns out that you can easily feel the impact. All the way in one direction, check it out. All the way in reverse, note. OT is exactly between the two marks. put a new engine in and it started right away since we knew where TDC was.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Some bugs

This was my first time using a tool like this and had no problems with it

Used it to accurately determine top dead center on a pair of Mercruiser 120's (GM 4 cyl). This was my first time using such a tool and I had no problems with it. Just zoomed it in one direction, marked the pulley, turned the crank the other way, marked it again, then separated the jambs. It's easy to rank me in a grade.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Upgradeable

A MUST HAVE for your toolbox

In fact, this is the ONLY way to determine the TRUE TDC of your engine. And that's very important. On my old Dodge Ramcharger the timestamp actually shifted. I used to set the time this way and it didn't have much power, so I suspected that was the problem. Timing with the Piston Stop I noticed that the standard timestamp was moving a few degrees slower. I used a time tape and set the lead to a reasonable 8* and the sleepy (default) 360 woke up!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Long delivery time

I can't believe computer cameras wrote their names on this piece of junk.

Terrible thread. Doesn't even do 1/4 turn and you know something is wrong. Bought for my little blocky Chevrolet with cam valves and I was expecting much better quality control than this one from Comp. Revain replaced the part, but the replacement didn't make it any better. I had to put a 14mm die on the thread and everything worked fine. Not so easy if you don't have a dice. After that it worked fine. If I were to pay a few bucks for it this would be to be expected, but for what it is it's not

Pros
  • Cool design
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

That seems like a really bad idea

Will not thread into '74 Tilt 6 head. Starts but gets very tight after 1/4 turn; I won't turn it with a ratchet. That seems like a really bad idea. I checked that the connector holes are M14. I compared the pitch of the candles and this tool and they match perfectly. The plugs are .5415" and the tool is .5485". Seven thousand doesn't sound like much, but apparently it's enough to keep her from getting screwed. I tried pressing it against a wire wheel on a grinder that removed the zinc chromate…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Functionality
