HDMI 4 Port KVM Switch: Share Keyboards, Mice, and Devices Across 4 Computers with 4K@60Hz Support Review

I was looking for a 3-4 computer switch and didn't need any of those traditional USB powered options. The funny thing is that there is an AC adapter included in the box (USB powered but still independent) but I forgot to plug it in for a whole week and this thing worked just fine. Works - under very specific circumstances. IE - toggles 4k if you have all HDMI inputs and outputs. However, if you have display port adapters or similar, or are transitioning to anything other than 4k, good luck getting it working. Also, it does not transmit keyboard presence over USB. This means that your computer will not boot if you have a BIOS that likes the keyboard present at boot. I threw it in the trash as I eventually got tired of messing around with it.

Wanted to set up a dual monitor desktop with HDMI and USB switching (4 PCs plus Raspberry Pi programming) so I bought two of these for the heart of the system. . The remote switch connects via USB and I added a USB 2.0 extension to it with no problem. There's a backlight on the remote, but it's a subtle light that's not distracting when it's in front of you. I was able to connect 2 USB hubs to ports for all my devices that need to move from computer to computer (camera, USB audio, speakerphone, headphones, keyboard, mouse, and game controllers). Update: The switch does NOT work with my new Alienware R10 desktop computer. Mouse and keyboard regularly disconnect, are slow, or unresponsive. Black screen flickers intermittently. Power this dock with an old Windows 7 PC with HDMI, a Windows 10 desktop with a DP to HDMI adapter, and a Surface Book laptop through its own USBc -Dock and then HDMI. Connected to a wireless keyboard, mouse and 43" TCL TV. I get 4k from all devices. The fourth serves as an available port for machines requiring service. The KVM is small and made out of nice, solid metal, not plastic, which is great. I was able to connect my Blu-ray (4K) player to two external monitors. I wanted to see if switching between both monitors maintains quality and if there are any performance issues. I was not disappointed.
