Description of πŸ”§ Accu-Drive Tensioner Assembly for Continental 49346

Goodyear Engineered Products are now branded Continental Elite. Round torsion spring technology instead of a flat-spring due to inherent corrosion protection. OE-style locating pins are part of the base casting, ensuring mounting accuracy and alignment.

Lasted 2 months: Belt Tensioner

Just 2 months later this tensioner broke down just like the OEM. Very upset after all the work of installing (lifting the engine to the side) my son's Celica.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Fits perfectly! The price is great! OE or better quality

Since the dealer lied when he said this part was leaking in my car (and charged $480 for the replacement) I'm a little bittersweet about it but they aren't wine products. This is a perfect replacement for the original OEM part. Since this part was "upgraded" by the OEM mid-production year 2007 and my machine received the "upgraded" part, I can't tell if it meets the specifications of the non-upgraded version or not. I will try to update this review over time.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Nothing here

Check your Engine Number

This tensioner and idler assembly, part 49346, is for the 1.8 liter #1ZZ FE engine in the 2001-2002 Celica GT. This does NOT apply to the 2001-2002 Celica GTS 1.8L #2ZZ-GE engine. Toyota part number for 2ZZ GE tensioner: 16620-22034. I could not find a non-original tensioner for this engine. The information on Revain's website lists part number 49346 for the 2ZZ-GE engine, but this is WRONG. I had to remove the hydraulic piston and tensioner from the new part and reinstall them on my original…

Pros
  • Fair Performance
Cons
  • Operating Speed
