Seems more puncture resistant

I used the soft shell version and it worked fine. But as it wore out, it became quite vulnerable to punctures from small pieces of glass. This hard shell version seems to wear better and is less sensitive. It's a bit heavier, but rolling resistance doesn't feel much better when the tires are inflated to spec.

  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Great road tires good for tires

If you are prone to punctures these tires are for you. I used to have Gatorskins and wore them to flatless chords. On another bike I had very reliable hard shells and this time I decided to put hard shells on this bike as well. They're expensive, but they work! If you look amazing, buy the set and you won't regret it.

  • Test for a year

Thought I was happy... not now!

These tires are loved on both bikes……until the wire bead failed…. It must be a factory fault as I've only driven it about 200 miles. Very disappointed when these are the most expensive tires. . I emailed the manufacturer with pictures and received no response. I assume they don't stand behind their product.

  • Handy

Good tire but solid glide enthusiasts look elsewhere

Tires ride well and have excellent traction. I've had them for several months with no signs of wear while riding in a heavy fixed gear. I almost hurt my back trying to slide on these tires for the first time! I just don't slip on this bike anymore, that's ok, but someone should know that hard shells are a lot stickier than regular gatorskins.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Trade in available

Very durable when cycling

For some reason I get flat spots a lot. The whole time. I want the strongest tire I can buy and the Hardshell seems like the right tire for me. People claim that the rubber compound is too hard and doesn't provide proper traction. I didn't find that problematic. People also claim that they are not as flexible as other tires and are too difficult to ride. I see no problem here either. I just want to get out and drive without worrying about the next puncture. I put about 2500 miles on the last…

I have 28c and I love them!

I live in Washington, the bike lanes are rough, gravel, some glass. These tires convinced me! I've driven it 1000 miles and not a single failure. With my other low impact tires, I literally blew up on the first ride. Traveling in my area! Rschunimagu. I had two apartments this week! If not in the alley, then on the street. In the case of potholes, that's a completely different problem! That's why I chose 28s. A little extra protection. Cons: These slick tires can evade you in corners when…

Durable and fast. - Sport

Excellent tyres, like most Continental tyres. I've had several types including various from the Ultra, Grand Prix and Contact series and I usually use the Grand Prix 5000 for good coverage (urban roads and bike lanes) but for longer trips (50-100+km ), I want/need a more durable tire as the inland roads can be pretty dodgy with potholes, gravel, puddles and whatnot. I wanted a tire that would be easy to put on and take off, and like 5000s, could be popped on with little to no leverage, at least

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Communication with seller
