This serves as a step down at the end of a long outdoor PoE connection. Some far-end devices don't support PoE and require 12V. It's a little overpriced for the load, which is okay because it runs cool and doesn't experience any load at all. Has been working without problems for several months now.

I installed this on my 98 Club Car DS. I installed an on/off switch on the 48 volt side because the unit still draws power even when the golf cart is off. Just installed LED headlights and taillights. Wow what a difference. Now all 6 8V batteries will be discharged evenly, effectively extending battery life. I'm also buying one for our new club car.

Works as expected. We had a hacker turn on a car's 12 volt headlight by plugging in ONE of the 4 12 volt batteries. That didn't work so well in the long run. You can do this, but it's wrong and it will create problems with uneven charging of the battery pack, and eventually the one battery used will not be fully charged.
