Router Plane works great and good value

This is a great tool. Made of heavy gauge steele and the blade is sharp right out of the box. But after I played with it some I treated it to a decent sharping and honing and it now works even better. The only minor down side is the handles on the plane. Since this came from China they are designed for much smaller hands I be a thinking. It could stand to have larger handles. Had some problems with the depth stop on the blade. Thumb screw kept coming loose. Easy Fix on that was to put some…

Pros
  • It functions as expected and it’s reasonably accurate. Swift delivery
Cons
  • The plane's blades are prone to dulling and wear quickly

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Definitely not anything to brag about.

For the money this costs it’s very cheaply made. The thumb screw on the back to tighten the blade is a wing nut and bolt. The Fence is also very cheap, but it does function. I wouldn’t buy this tool a second time.

Pros
  • ‎No
Cons
  • The plane is not suited for intricate and detailed woodworking

I like this router plane overall

I like this router plane overall, it does it's main purpose (for me finishing up tennons and dados) very well. The blade is nice and sharp outta the box, didn't even need a hone yet. This is made from a plate of steel with everything boltes on. To me that means if I blame my kids 😁 for knocking on to the floor I can probably fix it, cuz you know, no busted cast metal. The base is 1/4" thick so no noticable flexing either. My only real issue is the knobs, they are nicely turned but too…

Pros
  • Iron Size: 0.31in
Cons
  • The plane's base plate is prone to warping

Very much worth it on my review.

I'm very happy with my purchase. The router plane works really, its easy and simple to use (as a router plane should be) and it has rarely left my bench since I got it. It was a great buy.

Pros
  • This plane is a must for hand working wood to perfection. Created beautiful shutters with this tool.
Cons
  • The plane's depth adjuster is not precise

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Does what you expect for the price.

The router works the way you would expect. The drawback is the adjuster knob fits too loose in the blade so depending on how you lock it when you go to adjust the depth slightly you have to hold it a specific way or your not adjusting it slightly it's moving up to 1/8 inch from what you wanted. But if you pay attention to the angle of adjustment you can get around the learning curve.

Pros
  • Very nice sharp and flat right out of the box. Only draw back is the handles a little small.
Cons
  • The plane is difficult to operate without proper training

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Definitely Light Duty

Summary: There are too many small things wrong with this tool for me to be glad about purchasing it at this price point. Most of it is fixable but just look to the premium tool makers or vintage market on this one. Here are the highlights:1. The nobs are too small. You could turn new ones.2. The fence is difficult to lock square onto the frame and it's clunky to adjust. It comes with a screw driver but be prepared to take out your packet square and register it against the sole while tightening…

Pros
  • I loved the simplicity of the design.
Cons
  • The plane's handle can become slippery and difficult to grip

Couple of issues. in my review

I have a couple of issues. 1. The depth stop locking screw engages the cutter at an angle, meaning it doesn’t hold the depth and constantly loosens. The second issue is, due to the blade being angled, instead of being "l-shaped” like the Old Stanley’s or Nielsen’s It makes it difficult to fit into deep dados with the surface still registering to the part you are working on. I’d save the cash and buy a Lie-Nielsen or, even better, get an old Stanley.

Pros
  • Easily adjustable blade with the screw
Cons
  • The plane's repetitive use can cause hand fatigue

Works better than expected

This works great. I use it for cleaning out the bottom of dado joints and for touching up tenon cheeks. The base plate is a great size for reaching off the end of a piece to do the tenon. If you need a very fine tool (inlay?) then you might be better off with the lie Nielsen or Veritas, but this is perfect for me.I am an engineer that does traditional fine woodworking as a side gig.

Pros
  • Stainless Steel Body
Cons
  • The plane's blades are not heat-treated

R022 Cowryman is a winner

Razor sharp out of the box. Solid stainless steel precisely machined plate.Blade design being a straight rod (and not L-shape blade like Veritas or Lie-Nielsen) makes it extremely easy to sharpen using honing jig, which you are already using for your chisels and hand plane blades. So you get precise and consistent sharpening.Adjustable side fence comes in the box, so no need to buy additional accessories. They are now giving quick cam action lock lever along with alternative wing nut to tighten…

Pros
  • ‎Stainless Steel
Cons
  • The plane's blade can easily chip or break

Cowryman Router Plane - good value!

I'm a long time hand tool woodworker making furniture, small projects like jewelry boxes and even a few acoustic guitars. I've been using hand tools for almost 20 years. The router plane is, in my view, the 2nd most useful hand plane (after a simple apron block plane) and should be a must have tool for even power tool users.I have small collection of Lee Valley/Veritas router planes and they work great but they suffer from the challenge of sharpening the blades. That was the first think that…

Pros
  • I tried and works perfect, nice cut and very solid build.
Cons
  • The plane's blades need frequent sharpening and maintenance

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Happy with it, glad I bought one.

Very happy with this Router plane. Not a Veritas by any measure but it works just the same. I polished the blade, filed the edges of the base a little, drilled some holes to mount a larger base when needed. Next I will turn some larger handles for it. For the price I am very happy and really it is not that far behind the high dollar routers that I have used. It does its job, does it well, and at a price I can afford. I bought two router planes, three English made handsaws (a panel, a rip, and…

Pros
  • Solid plane, accurate when honed. Worth every penny
Cons
  • The plane's surface is prone to scratches and dents

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent for the price

This is a fairly good router plane for the price. You need to fiddle with the depth adjustment a couple times to get used to it but once you do there is no problem. Definitely needs to be properly sharpened prior to first use

Pros
  • ‎9.06 x 6.69 x 3.54 inches
Cons
  • The plane's blades are not resistant to rust or corrosion

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Terrific Little Hand Plane.

I've had the opportunity to finally use this and it works like a champ! The blade was useably sharp right out of the box. It's really easy to figure out and I'm glad I made this investment. It's miles better than anything I could rig up in the shop.

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • The plane's blade has a limited range of adjustment

Cowryman Router Plane Handheld Woodworking Tool

Works great but you cant get close to the edge and use the guide the way that the front is made as it keeps the guide bar from moving all the way in to the blade carrier. Needs 45 degree right and left cutting blades as an accessories.

Pros
  • ‎2.12 pounds
Cons
  • The plane's blades are not easily replaceable

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great!: my feedback

This works well! Seeing that people make their own router plane, & the simple construction makes it seem a little high priced.

Pros
  • Fence included
Cons
  • The plane's blade does not always remain in a fixed position

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality Tool! good for me

Big Brother to Cowryman's smaller Router Plane. Again a quality tool, well engineered with good materials all at a very acceptable price point.

Pros
  • ‎Corded Electric
Cons
  • The plane's grip is not ergonomic

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked like it should

I got this item for the base, because it was so wide, as the others seemed too small. I just wanted one router plane and this seemed to fit the bill. I liked the black lever locking thing, seems better than that wingnut.

Pros
  • ‎Cowryman
Cons
  • The plane's adjustment screws are prone to breakage

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent router plane

Terrific value. Excellent construction, does what I need it to. This is the second Cowryman routerplane I own and both are terrific.

Pros
  • A little smaller than I thougth... but great quality and works perfectly!
Cons
  • The plane's blade is too short for certain projects
