Poor quality control - spend more and get something better

Let me start by saying that I have a lot of experience with 3D printers. It's the fifth one I have in my office and I've probably installed and used a dozen more. I've used printers ranging from $200 to $4000 so I know what they're supposed to do and how they're supposed to work. This printer is almost junk from what I've seen. First of all, the assembly instructions suck. If this is your first time buying/using them, throw them away and go online. Second, the bed is not flat. Not even close…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

I'm a resin printer. Seriously, I have 2 resin printers that work side by side almost constantly. I stumbled upon this for fun, to see how the PLA folks live, and I have to say it's a lot of fun. However, it is definitely not as easy as tar. So unless you're the type to tinker with things to play around and enjoy what comes out of it, whether it's an improvement or not, it might not be. car for you. The first thing you need to do is build a printer. You literally get a box of parts…

Pros
  • Decent performance

Stepper motors get hot compared to previous models

I've been talking about buying a V2 or the original Ender 3 and using the money saved to pay for upgrades. I'm really starting to think this would be the best choice as I'm running into serious problems with stepper motor overheating causing serious layer shift issues. The first image is the Y-axis stepper motor, which reaches a searing temperature of 79.7°C after about an hour of printing. The second picture is the extruder motor which reaches almost 63°C and gets so hot that it transfers heat

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
