Hello everyone. Ordered, received, batteries inserted. couldn't even turn it on. Tried a few things and finally asked for a replacement. Got the 2nd, same exact results. Doesn't even turn on. I don't recommend getting this.

didn't toast much this summer finally opened this one. new batteries and nothing, doesn't even light up or turn on. Didn't think of opening before the return deadline and am sticking with it now. very annoying. GARBAGE

My husband loves this thermometer. The one we had for a couple of years was damaged (accidentally dropped in the water) so I bought a replacement for it for my birthday. Our new thermometer has just been opened and is completely dead. Doesn't work at all. Missed the 30-day return window by less than a week. :(Attention for buyers.

This fork requires you to input the meat and flavor you want. Then you stick it in the meat and wait for the beep. There is never a beep. AND NO TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS. The indicator is on the handle, but it refuses to read the temperature. A thermometer inserted into the meat reads 185F. The fork says - - -. It does not flash to indicate taste. How about this fork? reads meat temp? What a concept! It would be nice!

Didn't turn on out of the box Update: A replacement came and wouldn't turn on even with fresh Duracell AAA batteries, but I've experimented and found that it does turns on Legacy Mustang battery " <1.5V "AAA” in one of the two battery compartments, not the other. I have contacted Cuisinart Customer Service for more information and will post an update here once I receive a response. Update 2: The Fulham group who service this product sent me a replacement which came to work straight away…

This product is full of junk. We ordered one, followed the directions, put in new batteries, and it didn't even light up. He was as dead as could be. Despite repeated attempts and with several new batteries, he was as dead as could be. We processed the return with Revain and said we would send a replacement item. When we received this item (late October 2015) the hard plastic screen cover was already falling off the screen. I used it anyway and the temperature sensor, although slow, worked well. I have been satisfied with the tenderness of different meats when shot at the right temperature. However, after three months of infrequent use this fall and winter, we can't read the temperature on the screen. The soft plastic is too loose for us to read. Love the concept and will buy another brand to replace…

Temperature reading seems accurate. The problem I have is that the response time is slow due to the mass of the probe. During the first measurement, the region to be examined cools down due to the heating of the fork probe. It takes 3 to 4 probes in different places (or preheat the tip of a fork first) to determine the actual temperature of the meat/fish. The display doesn't have enough contrast to read well indoors.
