very durable product - ready to use

I'm used to using 4 sided open bottom graters that you find in the supermarket or an OXO grater which only has 2 sides. Thats much better. It has a bottom so you can store everything you grate in it and then pour it all into the bowl at once. It's also very durable, allowing you to lean over it for leverage when grating large chunks of cheese. So far I've only used 3 of the 6 pages.

Pros

  • could have chosen a newer model

Crate Grater Performance

I have a few Microplane graters but needed a good all round grater for those times when the food processor was too cool. This grater looks very well made, but I was a little disappointed with how sharp it is. This may be due to using microplane graters for small jobs and may skew my perception of "sharpness". Basically I wanted it to be the coarse and julienned sauce options. The julienne side didn't really do what I envision as julienne strips with carrots, it just grated it. For the price I'd

Nearly perfect! Wait for the right one to show up.

I searched, researched and bought the perfect grater. I also looked at expensive microgliders. But to use everything I need I have to buy 4-5 of them! Too expensive. I cook and develop a lot of recipes, so a good grater is a MUST in my kitchen. I'm hesitant to give it a 5 because the lid on the bottom tends to fall off when the grater is tipped for a lever or grate. It doesn't really matter to me as I don't really need it and I usually grate it on a plate or wax paper. A very good buy for the…

Professional level?

I would like it. (Stainless steel, professional box grater.) I was just trying to use them for the first time and a smack of the veggies on the side of the cut and the handle broke and fell into the box. I almost cut the outside of my thumb. What annoys me even more than a defective product is that I have to pay for the return shipping! I seriously had 3 small pieces to display and paid over $20 for them. (Revain has lowered the price since I got it less than a week ago.) I don't normally…

Great grater for making homemade laundry detergent!

I saw this box grater from a friend of mine when we were making homemade laundry detergent with naphtha rock bars. This worked beautifully for bars. I searched on Revain and bought it for home use. I also use it for cheese, chocolate and citrus zest. I love that it has 6 different sides: 4 smaller plates for fine, extra fine, medium and slicing and 2 larger plates for coarse and julienne grating. I also love that the base can slide out like a hatch so whatever it catches in it after grating or…
