Good shelf, reasonable price, just don't rely on "instructions" in too many "step by step guides" to assemble the shelf . The materials on my device have been precisely cut and shaped/bent. This led to my only assembly problem - DO NOT tighten everything until all the nuts and bolts are in place. Since this product is mainly square steel pipe, care must be taken not to overtighten or pinch the pipe. With the included self-locking nuts, there's really no need to tighten it further *all the way*.

I am very satisfied with this load carrier. It's durable and assembly was easy. I RECOMMEND this carrier from Curt. I travel all over the country, mountain biking and camping, that's my hobby. I wanted something to carry extra cargo and even a generator if I go really deep. It works great and when not in use you can take it apart and store it in the car if needed. My wife and I drive compact cars and we needed something to add extra space for our camping gear. We installed this on her 2008 Mazda 3. This truck was more difficult to assemble than necessary as the instructions were not detailed enough. I assembled everything except the shank and when I tried to position the shank for the bolt it didn't fit. I already knew from looking at pictures on the internet that this is not an ideal carrier. But this is the only one I've found with a quick search that works with a 1-1/4" receiver. Interestingly, it has a 2" receiver adapter - essentially a large piece of plastic that magically snaps its Shape changes. Load capacity from 300 pounds to 500 pounds. The wife will be using this to transport her father's wheelchair when she takes him to the doctor, so weight is not an issue here. Assembly required.

*Update to check below -- I called Kurt, spoke to Mike, the product specialist -- here's the thing -- If you follow the included assembly instructions, you're going to go wrong. To build this thing from the ground up. First you need to attach a 1 1/4" shank to the bottom two shelves. **** Incredibly important, there is an almost indistinguishable edge on the edge of one side of this shelf - Most of that edge has to be DOWN or else moves everything else a fraction of an inch.
