CURT 23556 Channel Mount Lock Review

Good investment to protect my adjustable towbar. Very happy with the quality. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stop thieves from constantly borrowing your towbar.

Terribly expensive for such a quality product you have. It doesn't have a short name on it, so I'm guessing it's just a renamed item. The locks feel flimsy and the rubber caps won't stay on. The locking mechanism seems very crude, not of the quality I expected from Kurt.

I thought it was made in the USA, A. I looked at the company and they make all the clutches there in the USA, American made. Try to buy American products as often as possible. My mistake with this purchase was calling to verify if this product is American or imported. (India)

I bought this and thought it was great. A year later I cut one off. because it doesn't open. Both have problems, this item is on the hitch, it gets in the dirty water and road dirt. There have always been caps. Now I need new ones and I need to cut one off with a cutter wheel.

Purchased to use with a 2.5" receiver on a 2016 Chvy 2500HD. Curved pin fits slightly longer length receivers. I use mine with a short adjustable ball mount 45900. The lock is very loose in the lock, does not inspire confidence that it will hold, it has been pointed out in numerous reviews, I have tried using Reese locks but they are partly plastic, what seems to be even worse, well what reese did was put an o-ring on the pin to soak up the slop. 5 seconds when the package when I put the ball's pin in its hole cut the pin's coating in half in the cut. It just seems like Kurt could do a better job with a set of locking pins that already seems expensive. I wouldn't mind paying a premium if I received a premium product. For a long time I couldn't use the curved pin to attach the crowbar to the receiver hitch. After initially writing a review I went out to satiate my curiosity and realizing that the pin appeared to be caught on something inside I managed to push it out far enough for the lock to actually engage could be attached! My rating has been downgraded from 5 stars to 3 stars, now to 1 star. I bought this in December 2013 along with a Curt hitch. The lock at the Kanalstift was closed until December 2015. I don't change size often so it hasn't been used regularly. Bought them again in spring 2016 and as of now (March 2019) both locks are locked so tightly that they don't turn.
