Great for any custom order

Great for any custom order, welded to the front of my van and carrying a 200 lb bike on a long trip. The only thing I want to mention is that it's better to make it a little longer than you think, since the pinhole has to erase whatever you put it on. Comes raw, I just didn't paint mine.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Weight

Close coupling no longer USA, global and cheap

I use many of them for the customer parts we produce. Kurt lowered the quality and raised the price. The right one has a newly welded cast steel end, the left one has a thin squeak, not welded, pressed to pieces, full of junk, we're trying to support the US business, cheap now and claiming it's made in Canada! Look for the best part, hope this helps the buyer. Many Thanks.

Excellent receiver

Made a very good winch mount, ordered more to make another one and the price went up a lot. Bought a not-so-matching version of the Reese, dyed it so I had to sand it down (and then be lazy and switch to the 6011) and it doesn't have that lip, I'm a fan of what this one has. This one is better, hopefully the price will go back to what it should be, not that I have to make more mounts. (Perhaps Revane already inspired me to write this review without showing me.)

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Well made, suitable for projects.

Sewn solidly, the seam is even. I've seen cheap ones with a rough weld on the tube that might prevent the plug from inserting. This is smooth inside and out. No paint, which is fine as I'm going to weld it on anyway. I stopped at a weld shop to buy a piece of pipe and got this instead. Their charge for cutting a piece of tubing was $5 plus the cost of the tubing (excluding cuts). Also, I still need to pierce and reinforce the end. For $7 with shipping it was easy.

Pros
  • Neat execution
Cons
  • Almost everything in order

Looks good and works for me

I have this to add a bike rack to the back of my caravan. It's not painted, but that's good. You can only weld and then paint. I've seen others like these, also at local hardware stores and hardware stores, and they are similar but with one obvious difference - the end cap. Most others simply use another cut piece of tub welded to the end. It looks gross and cheap. This CURT tube has a nice cap and looks professional. So far I have bought 3 of these for my followers and they are all great.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Extendable

The product has changed compared to before

I've been buying these for many years and I've always liked them, especially for the reinforcement collar. These coupling tubes always came with a good thick forged collar welded to the tube and Curt was the only manufacturer I know of that uses such collars. The last batch was made using a completely different process, which will likely reduce costs. Instead of the nice heavy sweat collar (which can still be seen in the product image) it has a crimped end to allow the collar to "form" into a…
