Sturdy and well built, solid construction.

A few years ago I ordered and installed a CURT hitch mount on my Ford Ranger. There was a small problem with the parts which CURT quickly solved with the right part. Now I needed a jack for a light trailer I'm building so I ordered another CURT product. It's strong enough for this lightweight trailer and runs smoothly and easily. My only issue is the mounting system with the plate on the socket and two metal strips/clamps. My small trailer hitch didn't work at all and stayed tight. So I made my

Added as a replacement for the 22ft tandem boat trailer. The weight on the jack is about 600# (1/2 rated load) and it flexes so much when extended 2/3 that it looks like it might break, and it's tilted about 15 degrees! Both the mounting swivel and the jack pipes have a lot of play and are anything but strong. Any lateral movement and I expect it to break. Even the mounting screws are barely enough (I've tried adding my own washers for a more secure fit). What worries me the most is that theโ€ฆ

Watch out for return prices

I ordered this to start with because it was said it would be delivered in about a week but after I ordered there was an estimate of two to three weeks . I tried to contact the seller to cancel it but got no response but I ordered another one thinking they would cancel it. The day after I received the other one, I received an email saying it had already been shipped. When it arrived (the other one already installed) I returned it. I paid 65โ‚ฌ shipping for the return. You can use the installation instructions; and not made in USA

I just installed it on a blank trailer for my 17ft O'Day daysailer. The lack of instructions is a problem, especially if you've never installed one. Here are some tips I've learned the hard way: โ€ข If your trailer tongue is over 2.5 inches thick (height), do not attempt to mount it so that the groove in the mounting plate is horizontal. All the pictures show it in this position, but it will be much stronger if the groove is oriented vertically. โ€ข Make sure the detachable brackets are facingโ€ฆ

Appears to be of good quality

First review. I will check if anything changes. I haven't really used it other than hooking it up to the hitch to see how well it goes up and down and pushing the boat around a bit while on the jack to see how well it rolls. I bought this jack to replace a 7 year old Fulton jack that was so badly rusted that I thought it would be best to replace it soon. It still worked normally but the spring holding the stop pin was operational (heavily rusted) as were the other parts of the clutch. 7 yearsโ€ฆ
