I am a beginner. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos on using stones and I think I've done pretty well. This product came as pictured and I think the quality is great and great value for money. I am very happy with this purchase. I appreciated that they checked that it arrived undamaged (I believe these stones can shatter if dropped) but it arrived in perfect condition.

Good even grit on both sides which gave my fishing knives a very sharp edge. I love the stone holder that keeps it safe on my bench. I recently sharpened the same knives with a lower git stone and this 1000/6000 stone added a very nice edge. Be patient when sharpening and try to keep the blade angle consistent. I gave 4 stars for ease of use as all whetstones require some practice.

Good overall. I didn't like the bamboo base when sharpening and the angle guide didn't help me because I was sharpening my pocket knife and it's big enough for that. The rubber that comes with the stone and the stone itself are good. It's also quite difficult to use, at least for a beginner. The first time I used it, I think I dulled my knife even more. It took me five tries to finally get my knife sharp enough to be happy and shave the hair off my arms, and it still took about 40 minutes.

Thanks to this sharpening stone and YouTube sharpening video, this newbie can now get my knives sharp enough that I can easily cut paper when testing before use. I've tried sharpening them with a belt sander and bench grinder in the past with very limited success, and have also lost a lot of metal from the blades unnecessarily. Remember that sharpening takes a lot of time, patience and practice. This kit is easy to use but be sure to read up on how to do it right or you could end up wasting a lot of time with very little practical results. An extra leveling block is helpful but I don't think the blade support is perfect as it gives a different bevel angle on each knife depending on the blade width. As I primarily use this stone for woodworking tools, this isn't a huge issue, but be aware that there are probably better

I bought these because I have a lot of chef and camping knives that (originally) needed sharpening.
