Danco 86971 Repair Kit for Delta featuring #212 SS Ball Review

This kit had everything I needed to fix a leaking faucet in my dad's bathtub (well actually I did include plumber's lube, which is a small sachet could be a good addition to this set ).

Includes 1" spare ball. It works great in my soul. I was able to install it in about 30 minutes with basic tools. If all your tools are in one box, a smart guy or girl can do it in 20 minutes.

Ideal for fixing a leaky faucet in an old house. Easy to install and saved me hundreds of dollars on a new faucet. The ball is slightly larger than the original parts, but still fits. It takes a little force to turn the knob.

Our tub handle broke off. I bought a universal pen to replace this one, but then water came out of the pen. I had to replace the white gasket as well as the gaskets. I was surprised to feel that the ball valve is really light compared to the original. I ended up keeping the original but replacing the white piece and gasket in this package. It was nice to find replacement parts that fit our old shower/bathtub handle.

I installed this ball in my shower valve. I dare say the shower valve hasn't been changed in at least ten years. It turned out that the water continued to flow when the shower ball was blocked towards the hot water position. Lift it to the middle or from the side of the cold water, then it will stop the water. So while it could work, it would be very annoying to deal with long-term. I ended up not using it and left the original.

Update: 01/15/2020. A few months later, one of them started leaking heavily on the hot side. I bought two of these for two different faucets. First, it's a lot cheaper than a true Delta replacement. Designed to match my faucet. That said, a few caveats.1. Of the two (missing) was the spring for the Delta faucet. The springs I had weren't worn out, so I reused them. Of course I could send it back, but that would be cumbersome. So it's a question of quality control. The second one I ordered had…
