Saturated color good for painting

I love these primary and secondary watercolors by Daniel Smith. I just wanted to go to elementary school, but whatever! I also bought a second one. Really highly pigmented colors. Easy and great to work with. I've included two quick images that I used in these colors just for review.

Great for getting started

If anyone asked me what good quality paint starter packs could buy in as few tubes as possible I would list them here. It's rare to find a good set of primaries that actually have properly matched colors (cool vs. warm) that blend the way your art teachers taught you in kindergarten, but that's about it! A great choice if you're looking for a thoughtful, quality gift for the artist in your life.

Live up to the hype

I've had my eye on these paints for a long time but wasn't sure I could justify spending so much on quality paints until I got good ones while painting. I ended up being pushed to the limit after seeing a Youtube video of an artist demonstrating them in action and pointing out that each 15ml tube filled the half-plate plastic containers I already had about 7 could refill. I realized I was getting even more actual paint per dollar than if I had bought the cheap starter kit I started with. The…

These colors don't go well together.

It's hard for me to give a bad review knowing that Daniel Smith's watercolors are of high quality. I've never used them before, but too many pros have praised them for not being true. However, if I buy primaries that are packaged together as a primaries pack, I expect to be able to make a color wheel out of those colors. It won't happen with these. Which is very disappointing because they aren't cheap and my only goal was to work with red, blue and yellow and mix all my colors from them. But…
