Dayco 89219 Belt Tensioner: Optimal Power Transmission Solution Review

I like this option better than the one on my 1996 Ram 2500 truck. The original had a 3/8" square drive for belt release, while the Dayco has a 1/2" square drive that provides more leverage for easier belt removal or installation.

I replaced my old Gates tensioner with a Dayco and it works great! No more creaking! The Gates tensioner squeaked for a while and when I removed it I discovered a small crack in the case. This Dayco is made in America and took about 10 minutes to install.

This product is proudly made in the USA 🇺🇸! Dayco makes many genuine Dodge parts! Solid design, just like OEM Mopar original. Why pay more for a Mopar OEM when you can get this part for a lot less? Very happy with the high quality and design which is way better than Gates or AC Telco (which is made by Gates). I highly recommend this one!

Once a year I sorted out the tensioner and belt. I have found this to be the tensioner that Cummins is selling for three times the price for my '97 Dodge Ram 3500. This tensioner along with the matching Dayco strap seems to have solved my problem. I think the spring in this tensioner is stronger and the whole thing was heavier for only $20. more than the other stretcher that seemed to be recommended most often. I think using a Dayco V-ribbed belt with this tensioner is a good idea too.
