I threw it in the trash.

I bought this starter thinking I could save some money for a car that doesn't drive much (about twice a month). After about the third time I used it, it wouldn't start. I checked the starter and it is faulty. I went to the local nationwide auto parts store and bought a good quality starter motor. Lesson learned.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Absolute rubbish good to start with

Bought to replace my dead starter - 02 TJ w/ 4.0 MT. I ordered the first one - a strong lap to the flywheel and the gear caught on the flywheel. Returned, ordered the second and thought that the first rubbish. No, secondly it was LESS. Do you have a Jeep 4.0? Take the HARD PASS for this starter. For 40 minutes of my life I don't go back to installing and uninstalling.

You need your OEM connections for this to work!

Starter size and shape was identical to OEM; except electrical connections! My mechanic had to rely on the original equipment (OEM) electrical connections to connect the battery to the unit. Another strange phenomenon is the "pulling" sound of the starter, which was awful on the 1st! For a while I thought the device should NOT be the right size. It's been about a month, and the strange noise still raises concerns that this unit will die MUCH sooner than the original, which had 219,000 miles.

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • Something different

Starter is ok, no problem πŸ‘Œ

Received the next day, ordered on Saturday. Delivered on time, took a whopping 40 minutes in total, the old one came out and the new one came in. It's now 18:20 Sunday night (delivered at 16:00) and running like a champ. Pay attention to others, the ignition wire harness that connects to the starter, make sure it is clean and the new starter connector is lined up when installed. Customers' cars get fixed all the time, they try to save a few bucks, they make it to the finish line, and they end…

jeep xj 99 works great!

Replaced by my 99 jeep xj cherokee. super easy. Two screws attach it to the gearbox housing. One is easier to get to than the other. The replacement took about 15 minutes. The ignition wire connector uses a factory connector. Just plug in and get started. Yes, this starter makes a strange noise. Sounds more like a rattle than a normal starter noise. However, this goes away after about a month of driving. (3-4 launches per day). Now it sounds like a factory starter and of course works fine. Very

Installed on Wrangler TJ, works great. Install with dielectric grease.

Installed on my 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ. It worked great, assembly was easy, actually 2 screws. Replaced this because the car would not start with the previous starter until I wiggled the wires going to the solenoid on the starter. When I went to remove the starter motor to see if it was corrosion or what the actual problem was when I removed the bolt holding the battery cable to the solenoid the bolt broke. The screw inside is made of copper, so it's pretty easy to break off. INSTALL WITH…

Post on Friday 25th November. It was great, my jeep started making about a million bucks again. Went to the grocery store after work on Monday the 28th. It wouldn't turn on when I tried to start it. They went home. Came back 3 hours later, turned the key, lit and lit. Brought home, let him ride in the driveway for now. Turned it off and back on. Tried several times, seems interesting again. I'll try again later to see how it is and hope it keeps working as it's snowing now and tomorrow's walk…

An inexpensive replacement! Update your starter cable and ground!

Easy installation, my original starter was replaced with this one after 21 years of service. The original still worked, but took a long time to spin before it could launch. The certificate shows a maximum current of 396 amps and the test at maximum power was 363 amps so I replaced the starter cord with a 2 gauge weld wire with soldered tips. Should have been more suitable with 1 gauge but that's all I had on hand. I will change it later. We also recommend replacing the engine ground with sensor
