Replaced by my 99 jeep xj cherokee. super easy. Two screws attach it to the gearbox housing. One is easier to get to than the other. The replacement took about 15 minutes. The ignition wire connector uses a factory connector. Just plug in and get started. Yes, this starter makes a strange noise. Sounds more like a rattle than a normal starter noise. However, this goes away after about a month of driving. (3-4 launches per day). Now it sounds like a factory starter and of course works fine. Very happy. This is a brand new starter. Don't buy a $120 device at an auto parts store. They are renovated, not brand new. And at half price! Even better. Highly recommended. I hope this one lasts as long as the factory one (180,000 miles).
