These dampened shock absorbers work well in warm weather. They open crate lids too slowly for me, I move much faster than them! However, in cold weather they over-dampen and won't open the toolbox lids at all, requiring you to open them manually. I would not recommend these damped shock absorbers. I prefer undamped dampers.

Excellent quality, just had 1 shock absorber with gas/oil leak, considered buying 2 but only replaced 1, glad I did. The new pair may have been too big for the old 15 TB mounts. I first bought a pair of cheaper quality shocks for the price of just 1 Dee Zee shock, I had to return them as they didn't even hold the cap. high. It's good.
