As this is an intermediate pad there isn't much to look for here (mainly foam sandwich) other than it works as advertised and adds an element of flexibility. I've used 1 pad so far and yes they wear out but work well. I used about 5 discs of sandpaper to sand the plastic panels and they are starting to crack, the edges are starting to crack. They will last longer if the edges are held firmly when removing the grinding wheels to avoid damaging the entire interface pad. 5 grinding wheels doesn't sound like a lot, but each wheel has lasted many hours as the plastic is soft. The final step in my polyacrylic wood finishing process is polishing to perfection. I like to use synthetic polishing pads, which are similar to cleaning pads but softer. I have found that a random orbital sander with a traditional velcro system will pick up these pads and polish the surface nicely.
