Make sure you have all the parts

Parts were missing from the parts list. This item was for my RV. We had to go out and find parts so I could get back on the road

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Cools your gear oil

Works as intended, cools the gear oil. I did not use the included temp sensor to activate the fan as I use an aftermarket control box and sensor in the pan to activate the fan.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Quality cooler goes with spares

My only complaint, as others have said, is the thermal switch which leaks like a sieve. Just poor design, NPT thread would be a better choice for a switch. Otherwise a very nice little tweak.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • So far so good

Cools ATF very well

I have bought and used the same cooler on another car in the past. I ordered a second one for my jeep. The built-in temperature sensor failed after a few trips. Tested with an infrared thermometer. I was hoping for a guarantee but was unable to contact the seller. Otherwise great cooler!

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Crumpled

Not what Derale used to be

The brackets are bent. Looks like the radiator fell off. Then during installation I found that the fitting for the thermal switch was cut too low to fit the radiator. Had to use adapters, extra fittings and extra clamps to get started. A 3/8 tube compression fitting was leaking. The leak never stopped. I had to replace it with a fitting from the hardware store, no more leaks. Fittings, machining and packaging failed this time.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Repair

Great cooler design, lousy thermostat quality.

Five stars for cooler and fan build quality - one star for thermostat. There is no way to seal the threads of this WEAK screw-in thermal switch and it leaked immediately. I tried sealing it with thread lock and that didn't work either - when I tried to take it off to do something else the brass screw sheared off immediately. Now, of course, I have to come up with a more durable thermostatic switch.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • Some problems
