Great product for exhaust and emissions

This is a great product, I only returned it because my starter already had a heat shield, super fast delivery, highly recommend

Velcro failure: exhaust and emissions

Instructions say to trim. Once you cut it open, the velcro that's supposed to hold it loosens. Velcro seams are no longer suitable for holding it around the starter.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Wrinkles

Starter still suffers from overheating

Product looks exactly as described but has not changed since installation. Maybe I just need different headers and this is not a solution for me. As I said, seems to be as described, it just didn't give me any results.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

The wrap requires a 2 inch clearance from heat sources!

Good packaging if kept away from heat sources. Wind it up 2 inches away from any heat source, otherwise it will damage the screen. If you're running a full size late model like me, 2" isn't an option and that's one of the reasons a heat shield is needed anyway.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Compatibility

Fixed a starting failure due to overheating on an old GM starter.

Why factory original starters work well for decades but are remanufactured or labeled as brand new materials, reproductions of old starter designs fail due to heat is still a mystery to me. However, the problem of not starting for 10-20 minutes after turning off the engine after long trips has been completely eliminated. Or on very hot days with short or long journeys. I find the price a little high, which is why I put off buying it for so long. But now that I have one, it's worth the price to…

good replacement, good fit

The starter heat shield was missing (although the bracket it attaches to was still there) and it was difficult to find a new or used replacement for my 91 VW Cabriolet. The dealer said there was one they could take out of the country, but it would cost over $100. So when I found the Versa Shield I was happy with the price but worried if it would be the right thing to do to protect the starter motor and solenoid from heat. Both turned out to be good. For the size the width was perfect but for…

Neat but far from perfect quick fix for my application

Works very well for an 'instant fix' type product. After about a season, the foil begins to fall apart as it is very flimsy and flimsy. You can stick your own foil on, but it's kind of a pain. In any case, it works very well until it falls apart. I already have two of these and plan to wrap my own foil on them to give them more life. Velcro is cool. I use them in autocross to prevent overheating of the exhaust manifold and CAT temps of my intake pipe leading to the throttle body. It helps…

Buy stainless steel binder!

May update this review to hate it if the product is not effective. I read other reviews and luckily bought some stainless steel zip ties to secure the blanket to the starter. Do it. Get stainless steel zippers, velcro and the quality of this product is not good. After attaching the blanket to the starter and realizing that I really need to remove the starter to attach it firmly. I removed the product which has velcro the foil torn mat. You read that right. After wrapping it around my starter…
