They last a long time.

Yes I love these beats. Mostly stainless steel drilling, with Tap Magic Fluid. HSS 5/16" drill bits can drill 4-5 holes in 1/4" stainless steel before dulling. So far I've drilled about 16 and about 12 inches of the entire rod on the lathe and the Dewalt 5/16 inch drill bit is still sharp. They also drill faster than HSS.

Pros
  • No walking - more user control

NOT a quality kit of drill parts and accessories

They are advertised as heavy duty and capable of drilling through steel. I bought these to drill out 2 bolts from an intake manifold gasket repair. These are not hardened steel bolts, but ordinary aluminum bolts. These parts got hot quickly, and yes, they were lubricated. 2 screws broke after a few minutes of drilling. Another burst at the base. Total garbage. I wouldn't recommend it for anything heavy.

Pros
  • Industrial grade cobalt for optimum life and durability in metal
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

1 point for packaging and 1 point for bits

If it wasn't for the pretty packaging I would give these bits a 1. Stainless steel painful even with pro gear and new drill wax. The stainless steel didn't damage the bits, which is good. But at the same time little progress on steel. However, the crowd that gathers during the time you work will admire this case.

Pros
  • Top speed and life in stainless steel and other carbides
Cons

They break pretty easily.

I just received these yesterday and used them for the first time today. Not very impressed that the 1/8" bit after drilling steel pipe broke after drilling about 20 holes. I wonder if there is a guarantee on them. They aren't much better than the titanium drills I've used in the past. I really like how the case and drill bits look. I almost didn't want to use them because they were so pretty. Maybe I shouldn't have used them at all.

Pros
  • Small, bulky drive fits in ToughCase+ Small to Medium (sold separately) - great for organizing loose items
Cons
  • Not automatic

Cuts metal for hobbyists like me

Sometimes I need to drill a few holes in metal to make antique restoration parts. For example custom bracket here, hidden bracket there. Try using the regular drill bits that come with the drill, or something like "1000 tools in a box of 10". Forget they turn to pulp, they are not designed for metal, even if it says so. I made a mess and started lighting the oil and stuff like that. So I asked a friend who makes fancy doors what he does with all the holes he has to drill in metal. So what I…

Pros
  • Snap-on accessory storage system to optimize storage space for wood, metal or I-beam drill bits
Cons
  • Safety

It is not even possible to drill a small hole in a knife blade.

I tried using three bits up to 3/16" to pierce a cheap 1/8" Tawain knife blade, and they only have a tiny mark on the blade. I was shocked and very disappointed considering this set cost $30! I used a drill press, lube and low speed and drilled until my hand got tired. Nothing. I only need two small (3/16 inch) holes in the blade of this knife and bought this kit for that purpose. I cannot recommend this set to anyone and will definitely not spend my money on it again.

Pros
  • Maximum speed and life on stainless steel and other hard metals
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Great for metal work

Bought for some work on a single axle trailer that was converted from a metal grid deck to a sheathing. To attach the skin we had to drill a few holes in the 1/4" steel L-beams and we had to do a little prep to get the job done. We took them and they did a great job. We did worked on this project for several days.and not a single problem and all the bits stayed sharp and working after the job was done.I've used them on several other projects since then without breaking or dulling.they certainly

Pros
  • Small bulk storage fits into small to medium sized ToughCase+ (sold separately) - ideal for organizing loose parts
Cons
  • Damaged

Get out of the way of the titanium shit!

Received this on my Revain wish list as a Christmas present. These are by far the BEST drill bits I've ever had. I've used them for auto work (including drilling out broken bolts on an engine and drilling new bolt holes!), on the porch, use them for roofing, electrical and other applications. You name it, my drill was there. In 8 months of use I've only broken one of the tiny ones (and I take some of the blame, I drilled something at an angle and it broke). Result; fantastic exercises…

Pros
  • Industrial strength cobalt for optimum metal life and durability
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
