I don't like running front panels, especially when they are in the middle of the bumper. I bought this mount to comply with IL law. The attachment is perfect. It doesn't protrude and with a little manipulation sits fairly close to the bumper. The only downside to this is that the main bolt that holds the license plate bracket to the hitch bolt cannot be tightened enough. I didn't want to over tighten the screw. So, my review after installing it a little over 3 months ago. First I installed it on my 2013 Scion FR-S and it fits as expected. During installation I used a small amount of anti-seize just as a test. I haven't had any problems moving the plate/bracket at all since installation except once. Bought for my girlfriend's 2014 Subaru BRZ and I will compare it to the Grimmspeed I have for my 2015 WRX. The tow bolt is aluminum and quite soft. Make sure you use some sort of lube before screwing it in (I used lithium grease). Once it came in I used the smaller aluminum adapter and made sure it fit snugly and snugly on the stud. I've had this for a few years, it was annoying because it turned at the slightest touch. Car washers always look confused. Aesthetically it stood out a bit BUT it was also a pro because when bad drivers backed into my car they were hit hard by the tow plate and my bumper came out unscathed.
