They are difficult to handle as the edges of the stone or the edges of the plastic on the sides seem to stick to the knife blade with each strike. They seem very usable. The electroplating holds the diamonds very securely, unlike the cheap diamond plates you can get for a few bucks at Harbor Freight. The selection of grits is very large, which is good for experimenting. I'm sure I'll eventually find a use for all of the grains, but you really only need three or so.
