For the price, this monitor looks great. Nice color and picture. Very easy to install. There are no instructions as to which cable goes where. The black and red colors are pretty obvious, but there's no mention of what the blue wire is for. It wasn't until I read other reviews that I realized that the monitor turns on automatically when reverse gear is engaged. I agree the "instructions" went bad on this reversing kit. I wanted to set this system to turn on and off manually using a 5 unit toggle switch I bought in China from Deals Extreme at: grounded to a long wire male cigarette lighter that is available at Radio Shack Bought for about $9 as it had to come to me mug. The monitor works well. The resolution is okay, but certainly not outstanding. There's a tiny area on one edge of the screen that looks like dead pixels glued together. I'm not sure if I did this by removing the screen protector, but I don't see how that's possible. That won't be a big problem. The knobs are cheap but functional.
