Railroad Chalk on Marking Tools

Finally found the chalk you were looking for. We didn't really need 72 of these, but I guess we have chalk for life now. Good deal for the money.

Pros
  • Handy Thing
Cons
  • There Are Flaws

This crayon writes yellow not white

This is a quality crayon but the yellow coating causes the crayon to write yellow instead of white. I need WHITE chalk. I am returning this item.

Pros
  • Easy set up
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model

Chalk. Clean and simple.

Some talk about chalk dust on the hands. Call me weird because I love dust. Rinses off instantly and feels kind of satisfying on my skin. He also writes well. I really wish it didn't have a yellow coating. Otherwise it's amazing. I will order more. It came on time, in a nice box, with no chips. Many Thanks

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Broken chalk - be careful

I use chalk in my insurance settlement job so I use a lot of chalk. I suppose it's not easy to transport the crayons without breaking them, but of the 72 crayons in the box only 44 were intact. I considered returning it but I need chalk and only threw away the smallest bits. and there is still quite a lot left to work with. Just drop all illusions, it will arrive with 72 real pieces.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Good item at Marking Tools

Well packaged - no part broken. This is a really strong chalk and is perfect for scoring in our Outdoor Shuffleboard (FL) program. Chalk writes as if it were yellow until used for a while, and then it turns white. The outer yellow coating helps protect the chalk and also protects your fingers from limescale. We have been buying this product from this company for years and have never been disappointed.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Definitely bad item

I've been using this chalk for 28 years

I've been recommending this chalk to my customers for 12 years. I've been using for 28 years. It is softer than "sidewalk chalk". Yes, you will have powdered hands, but that's okay. We use it to "chalk" cotton cord, just to "chalk a line". It's a much simpler process (drag and drop on a cotton string) than filling a chalk box with powder. And my customers also write in the parking lot. It's a great choice. Many Thanks.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • Requires socket

The yellow coating is annoying and useless

I did some street art and made decent designs during the pandemic. I think I'd be stuck forever with 72 4 x 1 inch white chalk pencils. I had read the yellow coating warnings so I knew what I was getting. We can honestly say that the yellow coating doesn't prevent dust from getting in, but it is yellow. If you don't get rid of it, you'll see yellow and white. I'll try light sandpaper, which I think should work. Another problem with this chalk is that it is very powdery and doesn't stick well…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

This is chalk. It is excellent.

This is chalk. Nothing fantastic. It's thick, durable, and withstands writing on rough surfaces like wood and metal. The box is huge and I haven't found any broken sticks yet, so I'm guessing this is based on the carrier's handling. The only thing that bothers me is the yellow coating. I don't see it helping with the dust, and it carries over to whatever you label, which annoys me. Dixon does not apply this coating to other paints. I want white chalk, not yellow stains. But it does scratch off…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some issues
