Good for storage but not for a project

This is a handy way to store floss but I didn't like it for project use. There's no good way to deal with leftovers or partial strands - I ended up just winding them onto the main part of the skein already wound on the spool. I'll probably use them to store open skeins in a box, but for projects I only make punch cards (punch a series of holes along the edge of a piece of cardboard). Also, I didn't buy labels, thinking I'd write the color number directly on the spool, but the Sharpie didn't…

Ideal for keeping yarn organized

These spools are ideal for storing multiple skeins of yarn or other yarn. I have quite a few skeins of DMC Floss and each skein is perfect for one spool. This allows me to keep my floss clean and tidy and makes finding what I want a lot easier, making cross stitching a lot easier and more enjoyable. They're easy to label, write down the thread number, and the included ring allows you to store everything in one place. It has definitely made the cross stitch work a lot easier and more enjoyable…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

These are spools of thread, but they are good spools of thread

If you're like me you've always used cheap cardboard thread spools and they work great, but they're flimsy. They bend, they fold, they cut paper. I decided I'd had enough of digging into crappy spools of thread and invested in this one, the Rolls-Royce of thread spools. Uh, what can I say, they're made of plastic. They are durable and serve their purpose. I would definitely recommend using the thread number stickers that DMC sells rather than handwriting tiny numbers with a permanent marker…
