Very handy in Thread & Floss

I embroider a lot and am tired of looking for strands in my old cutter. This way they stay organized. I like that I don't have to unwind the skein to put it on the "loop" like you do when you buy cheap cardboard. I also like that there is a place for a tag, which is very important if you need to know the color number. I also organize projects. Sometimes I go to a friend's house to sew, and the folder is portable.

Pros
  • I keep my finger on the pulse
Cons
  • Compatibility

It is great! suitable for sewing

I use the Stitchbow thread holders with the binder that came in my Stitchbow travel bag and I love them. They made it a lot easier to keep all my embroidery threads in good condition, organized and easy to use. Will definitely continue to use these filament holders for all my filaments - love the tie too. It only takes a minute to move the filament onto the holders - it's worth it. I highly recommend them.

Works best with thread and floss

They definitely work better than putting thread on those flat plastic pieces (string left on for long will wrinkle and be very tedious to use). There is a "hand" to hold the paper from the floss with the number on it, but it doesn't work very well. I have several numbered stickers and just stick a sticker on each holder. This works fairly well until you reach the end of the thread and have enough length left to wrap around the holder. However, I like them much better than the flat plastic parts

Pros
  • Many will fit
Cons

Huge time saver, I LOVE IT

I'm a cross stitch sticker enthusiast (no, I don't make those simple cute pictures you can buy at your local Walmart). I usually embroider images of people that are quite large and very detailed, taking over a year to complete and countless hours to complete. I love cross stitches but hate wasting time winding yarn. This filament holder literally takes just a few seconds to put a new piece of filament on it. This gave me more time to work on the cross stitch. I really like using these holders.

Pros
  • 10 thread holder for thread
Cons
  • unreliable

Works very well

They definitely work better than threading those flat plastic pieces (the thread left on it for long will wrinkle and become real) one use agony). There is a "hand" to hold the paper off the number thread, but it doesn't work very well. I have some number stickers and just stick a sticker on each holder. The end of the thread and you'll' me don't have a piece long enough to wrap around the holder but I like them a lot more than the flat plastic ones and will definitely be ordering more of these

Pros
  • Length (tip to tip): 6-3/4"
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Improved filament storage

I'm a fiber artist who does a lot of surface embroidery. Mesh arches keep the thread relatively kink-free compared to card bobbins. This means fewer tangles and knots on longer stitch lines. However, the stitch sheets and plastic pages needed for optimal organization are an expensive way to store yarn. The label holder doesn't work very well, so I resorted to printing the labels with a special label printer (the only thing that doesn't fall off) or marking them with a marker. Despite these…

Pros
  • Plastic construction
Cons
  • Expensive
