Works well with SATA drives.

This dock works much better than the previous (different type) I bought. Transferring from SATA drives is much faster. I don't know about cloning because I haven't used it. I'm still working on getting the IDE drive to work. What interests me now is how to install the drive itself. master or slave? I can't find anything in the manual that suggests this. Or maybe I just can't see it because the text is a bit small. UPDATE: Well it was a good drive until the front drive slot failed today. I amโ€ฆ

GARBAGE! Hard drive housing

I received mine on 05/10/2021. But I haven't been able to use it until today (June 19, 2021). I only bought it for one reason; to access my old drives. I put it in and the bottom of the reader almost popped out! I checked all device cables and everything is fine. I turned it on and it worked right away. GREAT! The drive I want to copy is only 80 gigabytes, so I started by copying its files to my PC's 1TB internal SSD. But the reader stopped working at 1%! I turned it off, restored the 80 gigโ€ฆ

Great idea, poor execution

I have 2 of these devices for checking and backing up hard drives. I also liked the idea of having IDE drives. Unfortunately, IDE drives are extremely difficult to dock (the pins tend to bend) and don't really work. The setup is odd, with an IDE docking station on the back and 2 SATA docking stations on the front. Another issue I've encountered is random drive disconnects. I've tried them on multiple computers and USB ports. IDE is meaningless and SATA is untrustworthy. Do yourself a favor andโ€ฆ

Multifunctional design.

I am very happy with this item as I had several old laptops that died and didn't back up everything and I was worried that I would lose precious photos that I didn't back up or attached to a saved elsewhere. This device managed to access my files and it's like opening a time capsule as some of the information dates from 2011 to 2015. I like the extra features like SD card reading, dual USB ports, and the ability to read different hard drives like SATA and those with metal pins. Inexpensive andโ€ฆ

Seems ok though. Best in Computer Accessories and Peripherals

The device comes with almost no instructions, printed in tiny print. I tried downloading the instructions but gave up after a few tries. When I try to unzip it says the file is corrupt. There is no way of telling which driver file comes with that particular device as the list only gives the filenames. No descriptions or other information to know which file is needed. As a result, there is no guide and no driver. The device may work, but it takes other bits to get the full benefit of the device.

fhong Hard Drive Docking Station VSVABEFV Hard Drive Enclosure

Item received on time and well packaged. I tried connecting two different IDE hard drives and neither worked. I don't know if both drives were really damaged/failed or if the drive case itself is to blame. I bought a disc case to read some old discs that I hid a long time ago, but it didn't read the discs. Well to be honest the two SATA drives in the case worked fine as advertised but I'm not sure if the power supply was connected properly or if the drives were just bad so I can't giveโ€ฆ

DO NOT BUY. WILL NOT WORK ON ANY COMPUTER

This product does not recognize any hard drive type. Put the hard drive in the system and it sounds like it's starting up, but then nothing. Insert the same hard drive into your computer and it will be automatically recognized and you can see what's on the hard drive. I've tried old and new hard drives and the same thing happens, sounds like it's starting but you can't see the hard drive in windows explorer. It is very difficult to insert old discs into the device. You must work carefully andโ€ฆ
