4k@60hz ONLY works if your device supports DisplayPort 1.4!

I NEVER normally write a one day review on a product but I gave it a go and I wasn't disappointed! It works fine on my 2020 Macbook M1 connected to a 4k TV via HDMI. I use it as a secondary monitor. My Macbook outputs 4k at 60Hz which is the main reason I bought this thing. My secondary goal was to use this on my work laptop, which is a Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1 but only outputs 4k30Hz as it doesn't support DisplayPort 1.4. Technically, this is a hub.

It works but it doesn't do what I've selected from all available. Didn't do an important cause that he promoted. It doesn't deliver the charging performance you want or advertised. It won't even power a Chromecast, let alone fast charge a laptop battery or even a Samsung phone. It also doesn't have USB 3.0 speeds. These are all the cheapest off the shelf components with copy paste ads. The reason why it is one of the cheapest. Not the cheapest, just cheap.

Great dongle for M1 Mac

Among the many USB-C and Thunderbolt docking stations, this one stands out as an affordable and feature-rich option for M1 Mac. The Ethernet port provides almost all of the bandwidth available to my ISP. An SD card reader quickly transfers video files from the dash cam, and a USB-C port lets me charge my MacBook Air with either the standard packaging or my 100W GaN travel adapter. A third USB-A port would be nice, but that's the only thing I can quibble about. Highly recommended.

Ethernet chipset 🤓

I'm mainly writing this review to emphasize that. I've searched and searched and couldn't find out what make or model of Gigabit Ethernet chipset is in this hub. So I took the shot in the dark and ordered it anyway as the specs looked great otherwise. Well, to my surprise, it includes an ASIX AX88179 controller, which is excellent for having the ability to tag at least one VLAN. Your network and IT lovers will understand. Great Dongle for M1 Mac
