The plug was pulled while cleaning the wood. Not a hard hit and shouldn't have partially pulled the fork out. If the plug is overtightened, it will begin to push itself out of the stem.

I bought these bar ends because I was tired of the others falling out. The design of these seems much better, even the aluminum end with the plastic bracket. I ride a lot of drops and they haven't moved yet.

They are exactly as advertised. Very good quality and light weight. The center piece is a nice rubber stopper rather than the cheap plastic that most end caps seem to use. The carbon fiber itself is thin and flat. It's not artistically decorated (shaped) but it does the job perfectly. And it's carbon fiber, so who could ask for more?

Over tightening will start to squeeze the rubber out of the handlebars. I put them on as best I could before I got to that point, and then on my next mountain bike ride one of them fell out somewhere. To be honest it must have been when I had the accident. I bought them on purpose though because the previous plugs fell out and they just didn't match the price.
