🔧 Dorman 030 136 Cotter Tech Piece: Enhanced Performance & Durable Quality Review

This is a must have if you own a DIY home. You never know when you might need one of these and Dorman products are very good. I used one the other day when my lawn mower's transmission stopped moving. The pen fell out. Thanks to this set it was easy to fix. I've also used it to fix my cars. convenient to have.

I was tired of running to the hardware store every time I needed to replace a broken cotter pin on my lawnmower or something else that broke that day. This set contains 10 times more cotter pins than I'll ever need for the rest of my life, but I'd rather have them on hand than not. The case is too big and could easily be half the size and still contain all the pens, but that doesn't really matter.

Should have been more careful. I chose this set because it had 12 pens of different sizes. However, there are only 390 of them, and 3900 of them could fit in a box. Oddly enough, there are more pieces in the larger sizes that I'll probably never use. The pens themselves are fine and there are more than I need or need. But a competitor has a handy smaller canister with almost twice as many outlets at a slightly lower price. It was necessary to study the competitors better.

How to screw the pin box? They make the lid flexible to allow all carefully sorted pens to end up in a chaotic mishmash during transit, evenly distributed to dots at one end of the box! Seriously, all of my pins got mixed up, and obviously the lid doesn't stop the pins from jumping over the dividers and into the other pockets. This could be circumvented if the box came with a styrofoam block or something to put pressure on the lid, but this doesn't need to be done to keep the contents where…

Pins are fine. I used two of them on the day of arrival. One of the two had a bent tip and needed straightening before use, but it was easy. I like that they have one shaft longer than the other and are easier to insert and bend than some of the cheaper ones I've used in the past where the shafts are the same length. So I was a bit surprised by the size of this case. 9" x 13" x 2.25" You get the picture. Nothing special about the metal, they seem to resist rust longer than the cheaper bare metal pens. The box says they are made in China. The Box has real hinges (plastic) instead of "bent plastic doomed to break" hinges. You can't remove the standoffs, they are a one piece casting of the case.
