required for full belt installation

These tensioners are required due to Mitsubishi's design flaws. will dodge and jump. Causes engine damage. If you change the belt, replace the tensioner. It's not worth the risk.

Pros
  • Recommended for replacement when installing a new timing belt and pulleys

Good quality! on parts

This T.belt Dorman Tensioner looks and feels high quality and is a must have when your want to change the timing belt. On cold mornings my 2003 Eclipse Spyder GT would make noises because the tensioner broke and couldn't keep the belt taut unless I turned off the engine and then restarted it once or twice. This tensioner (and a new belt) fixed the problem.

Pros
  • Rugged construction - this part is made of high quality materials to ensure reliable performance and long life
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Only lasted 4,500 miles and BAM

Purchased in 2015 for my son's first car. We bought the top holder for refurbishment before it was registered. We replaced the timing belt, water pump and everything around including this one. We installed and repaired all parts. He got his driver's license and drove the car about 4500 miles after the repair. This part fails and the timing belt jumps and the pistons hit all the valves. Now the heads have to be redone because of this crappy detail.

Pros
  • Reliable quality backed by a team of US product experts and over a century of automotive experience
Cons
  • No performance
