Dorman 42053 Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Cap for Model Compatibility Review

Although stated differently this cover fits my Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 3 tab cover. I used this cap to create an adapter for my Motive brake bleeder instead of spending $$$ to buy one. A step drill and a bit of JB welding will do the trick.

On my 1996 Jeep XJ the brake fluid in the master cylinder goes black much quicker than the fluid in the lines. I suspected that after 20 years the lid was not airtight. The new lid is definitely a lot tighter. You need to keep an eye on the liquid in the tank.

Fits my 2001 jeep grand cherokee perfectly. The color is slightly different than the standard cap, more orange-yellow, but it fits perfectly. Was a bit concerned about ordering as I couldn't find anything that said it was compatible but it turned out to be the exact same size as the one he replaced.

I was so proud of myself that I made the brakes for my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ 4.0 Motorized. That was until I forgot to change the brake fluid cap and drove off. Well, this cap could be anywhere now, so I badly needed another one. This one fits great, although the color is slightly different from the OEM.

Purchased to replace a leaking cap on a '97 Cherokee. I thought I had a nasty brake fluid leak, but it turned out the plug had burst. The price for this comes from the breathable device on the underside of the cap. If you have excess fluid at the top of the master cylinder reservoir, try this first before going crazy looking for a leak.
